Medical Work

Adjunct Professor Geneid is renowned for his work in laryngology and phonosurgery. His areas of expertise include a wide range of surgical treatments for vocal fold paralysis, vocal fold cancer, swallowing disorders, and various voice disorders with growing involvement in sleep medicine.

He is also particularly well known for gender-affirming voice procedures. He leads a multidisciplinary team at Helsinki University Hospital, dedicated to treating patients with voice and swallowing problems.

Research

Ahmed Geneid has over 100 publications covering various aspects of Ear, Nose, and Throat as well as Phoniatrics, with a strong focus on laryngology, including surgical techniques, voice acoustics, and swallowing disorders. His work also includes guidelines and consensus papers addressing controversies in laryngology and the management of patients with voice and swallowing disorders.

Beyond medicine

Since his high school years in Egypt, Ahmed Geneid has nurtured a strong and lasting interest in foreign diplomacy and economics. Although his parents wisely advised him to pursue medicine, a path that—considering the time and circumstances—proved deeply rewarding, his fascination with global affairs and economic development never disappeared. This duality of interests shaped his outlook early on. While studying medicine, he remained active beyond the classroom: leading his student association, engaging in international medical student collaborations, and developing a keen awareness of how medicine and broader societal structures intertwine.
