Adj. Professor Ahmed Geneid is an internationally recognized, innovative ENT consultant and expert in laryngology, voice and swallowing surgery, and phoniatrics. He holds dual specialization in ENT surgery and phoniatrics, which is the medical speciality of communication in many European countries. He currently serves as Head of Department at Helsinki University Hospital, where he leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of voice, swallowing, and airway disorders.

Over his career, Professor Geneid has established himself as a leader in laryngology in Finland and internationally. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and textbook chapters, combining academic rigor with practical innovation.
He is an active contributor to international professional societies. He is a founding member and current Vice-President of the International Association of TransVoice Surgeons (IATVS), reflecting his pioneering role in gender-affirming voice surgery. He has previously served as founding member and President of the Finnish Laryngological Society and the Union of the European Phoniatricians, helping to shape the development of laryngology and phoniatrics across Europe and beyond.
A sought-after lecturer, Professor Geneid is regularly invited to speak at international congresses, surgical courses, and scientific meetings. He has taught and mentored generations of young ENT surgeons and phoniatricians, sharing expertise in advanced phonosurgical techniques and multidisciplinary care of voice and swallowing patients. He has also supervised doctoral theses, contributing to the academic growth of the field.
His contributions have been widely recognized. In 2020, he was named ENT Doctor of the Year by the Finnish Association of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. He has also twice received its Best Presenter Award for his ability to communicate complex surgical concepts with clarity and precision.
Beyond his clinical and academic work, Professor Geneid maintains a strong interest in medical innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration. He participates in various research-to-business initiatives both as a partner and researcher. In addition, he is an angel investor in several startups and companies, both in medicine and beyond.
